Recipe section added

I’m happy to announce that the new recipes section is finally open for business! It took a little while because it was written from scratch, but I’m pleased with how it came out. You can search by ingredient, browse all recipes, or see the most recent recipes added to the database. Right now there are only a few recipes, all from recent issues of “In the Bag,” but I’m definitely looking for more from readers. So, send in your favorites that use vegetables grown at the farm or sold at the stand and farmers’ markets.

Week two

Hi all!

Sorry I was a little late with the ID the Veggies update this week… e-mail decided to play a trick on me and wait 15 hours before showing up in my inbox. This week, we’ve added Escarole, Sunburst and Patty Pan Squash, and Turnips to the page. The great thing is that the photos are taken by the PVF staff, so the veggies look exactly like what’s showing up in your bags.

Don’t forget that current and past issues of the newsletter and “In the Bag” are available.

You’ll also notice I’ve added a site news section to archive any of these updates that I make. For the web-inclined among you, I’m using Wordpress.

I’m still working on getting the recipes section online. I hope to have it ready by this weekend with some a handful of initial recipes. If you have any you’d like to include, e-mail them to me.

This week, I was able to see the Purcellville farm in person for the first time. What a great place! Ellen and her staff put an unbelievable amount of work into the planting, maintaining, protecting, and picking the vegetables and it really shows. The various plots are like pieces of artwork in their own right.

Welcome to the new PVF site!

As the first bags are being delivered to CSA customers, the new Potomac Vegetable Farms web site has launched. Everyone involved with the farm has high hopes for the site for this season. As the new webmaster for PVF, I’m going to try and keep the site fresh with new content throughout the week including recipes, PDF versions of the newsletters (currently dating back to 2002), and information about the vegetables CSA members are finding in their bags.

The recipes section isn’t ready quite yet (I’m working on it!), but expect it by the time you have your second bag of veggies. I’m very interested in your feedback on the site and if you have any recipes, photos, or other information to contribute, please contact me.
